Join School of the Arts (SOTA) located in downtown Tacoma and the Science And Math Institute (SAMI) in point Defiance Park, students, alumni and staff in creative hands on exploration of the arts, science, math, technology and nature. Camps run from June 26 through August 3 with morning and afternoon sessions. Pre-registration is required and is done through your local elementary school. If your child attends one of these elementary schools, contact the main office for information about enrollment. Space is limited.
The Xplore program is an opportunity for elementary school students, 3rd-5th and 7th and 8th grades, to continue learning during the summer months. Instructors teach content specific mini-courses that engage young learners in new and creative ways.

Music: Showcase students’ inner Rock star in this class. They will learn how different genres of music work together and perform an original song.
Visual Art: Work alongside art museums in Downtown Tacoma and be inspired to create their own Masterpieces
Dance: Learn different styles of dance and work together to create students’ very own piece to perform at the end of the week.
Science and Math Institute (SAMI) Point Defiance Park
Marine Studies: Explore sounds of the Puget Sound while learning about marine friends in Tacoma.
Zoo and Trail: This will be a highly interactive class, combining exploratory nature walks with learning about all the animals at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.
Maker Space: Students will learn how to build, using items such as LEGO ®, applying computer science and engineering concepts.
